The Fox and the Grapes

A fox walked through a field one day and came upon a vine
And hanging from a sprawling branch were purple grapes so fine
The branch did wind around a tree, 'twas high up off the ground
But it was full of luscious fruit, so plentiful and round

The fox upon hind feet did stand and then he leaped up high
He missed the grapes, they seemed to up half-way to the sky
He jumped again a few times more, but no grape did he get
He growled aloud, and yipped and barked, and worked into a fret

And finally the fox surmised, the effort was in vain
He'd jumped so much his hind legs were feeling quite a bit of pain
So to himself he said when he'd exhausted all his power
I'm glad I didn't get those grapes, for surely they were sour!
